A picture is worth a thousands words
As the saying goes…
As a copywriter I’ll always advocate the power of words, but it’s also true that an eye-catching image will transform the experience for your user, catching their attention and drawing them in.
Together, words AND images can tell a powerful and complete story; that’s why it’s worth taking the time to find the perfect mix of both for your business message.
Unless you’re armed with a camera or have employed the services of a photographer (which is always worth investing in for the right reasons), it can be tricky to find great images that reflect the messages you want to share.
Indeed, the truth is, high-quality stock photos don’t have to come hand-in-hand with hassle or high price tag.
Here’s my favourite resources for free, high-quality stock images that you can use for your social media, website and blogs. (Oh, always check the licensing details before using the images!)
Unsplash. Unsplash’s tagline is ‘beautiful, free photos’ and they’re not wrong. It offers over 850,000 free handpicked photos gifted by the world’s most generous community of photographers. Each time I use Unsplash I’m never disappointed and often find more than I was looking for. Awesome.
Pixabay. Pixabay is a free user-driven service offering a ton of good quality photos released under Creative Commons. The site is very intuitive so it’s easy to navigate but I do sometimes find that it can be difficult to find some pictures related to the subject I search for and can be quite corporate in nature.
Pexels. Photos that make the cut on Pexels are handpicked from a variety of free image sources to ensure that you get only the best and its search function is very powerful and usually results in decent photos I can use.
